Jaldar is a very famous design in handmade rugs from Pakistan. A typical Jaldar design is often in wool and silk with similar gul motifs, although more angular and diamond shaped to a Bokhara, repeated in rows. This design is basically the inspiration from traditional persian sarouk and yamud designs. Like other Pakistani carpets (Bokhara, Caucasian, Pak Persian), Jaldars have cotton bases. A Jaldar carpet is symmetrical knotted (single knot) with high dense hand-knotted pile of wool and often highlights of silk. Jaldar carpet is famous for the thick, soft and velvety wool pile and beautiful sheen. Red, beige, dark blue, wine, light blue, black, white are the common colors used in Jaldar designs. The knot counts of fine quality jaldar rugs, such as those listed here, range from 144 to 242 per square inch. Lifetime rugs and can be used in any decor.
